This statue is very unique. According to Buddhism Buddha was meditating for 9 years before he reached the enlightment. During that period he did not eat anything so there are 2 forms of Buddha starving and enlightened. The second form is more known in Europe but the first form is very popular in Tibet because it better represents the state of being of the humanity. This is the statue of Buddha in its "starving" form. The cradle and the skeleton are made of copper and the body itself is made of pure yellow gold. The statue is between 60 and 100 years old. It was kept in a Tibetan monastery in Himalaya before the chinese invasion.
